Nsio Pose Practice 5: Tsuchimiya Sayaka 2 by Nsio Nsio Pose Practice 5: Tsuchimiya Sayaka 2 by Nsio
A new pose practice featuring my OC Tsuchimiya Sayaka. I just realized that I had originally named her as Sayako, but for some reason I've been addressing her as Sayaka :D

This time Sayaka didn't agree on modelling nude, too bad. That was because I was livestreaming the process.

1. Just a general standing pose
2. Sayaka from behind. She feels a bit uneasy.
3. Stretching Sayaka. She isn't too bendy though.
4. Sayaka fixing her pigtails.
5. Suddenly, Sayaka needs to rush to the bathroom.
6. Sayaka returns and appears a bit flustered. She didn't specify why though.
7. Sitting Sayaka.
8. "SURPRISE!" Sayaka is startled.
9. Sayaka hates scary stuff the most, and went sulking for the rest of the day. She declined to pose more than this..

I like how you incorporate story into the pose sets.  The idea that someone assumed to be you the artisst is the one that startled her, it's funny when you add that she declined to pose more.  Just brings life to the drawings even more :)

That's right. I'm drawing them like they were in front of me, or like I was drawing them in the world they live in. I'm just a spectator, observing the characters as they reveal more details about themselves :D

Now THAT'S an AWSM way to do your characters! I have some OCs of my own, and I might do something similar to you.

Just read comics a lot and closely analyse the poses and the body language. In order to draw convincing poses, you need to understand both human articulation and tendencies of behavior.

I suggest looking for a book "Making Comics" by Scott McCloud. It has great insight about drawing comics, and also explains a little about the humans and their poses and body language as well :D

Pose 8 is definitely cool xD she's making rock/love signs while frightened? lol or maybe protection from the evil eye? Idk, but it made me laugh.

I think what was really cool about pose 8 was how three simple lines could help identify motion without looking out of place. I've tried that technique before, but it never really turned out right for me. Maybe it's in my choice of placement of the lines? I wonder, do the lines represent the trail of motion or indicate the path of motion? That is, do the lines represent a future movement or a movement that has already occurred? Perhaps that may shed some light on my weakness.

Fantastic work, as always :D

I guess it's more about protection from the evil :D. I recall that in Ranma½ that sign is often used when characters are surprised.

The trail and path of motion pose very little difference for a non-native English speakers such as me, but it's definitely about the movement that has already occurred, or rather, is currently occurring (maybe you meant this with "future action"?). Without the lines, it looks like the action has already happened, but with the lines, it looks like it's still happening. They emphasize the dynamic nature of the pose. When people are startled, they often make hasty, spontaneous moves, so drawing the pose still moving makes the nature of the action more obvious.

Thankies :D
